Community Guidelines

Plain Places is built to host businesses in the Anabaptist and "Kingdom" communities and others with like values. Please read the guidelines below to see whether your business qualifies. 

Our Founding Principles

The Plain Places community is built on the following beliefs:

  • Each person is inherently valuable, because each of us is created in God's image.
  • God delights in seeing humans thrive, learn, and create value in his good world.
  • We glorify God when we do our work with love, integrity, wisdom, and skill.
  • Love of God and neighbors is the first priority of any Christian business.

Who Qualifies for Plain Places

The Plain Places community welcomes all businesses who meet these criteria:

  • You operate according to core Anabaptist principles (e.g. strict truthfulness, a commitment to non-violent conflict resolution, and a practical application of the Sermon on the Mount).
  • You belong to or serve an Anabaptist or "Kingdom" community. 
  • Your business does not promote violence, political involvement, lewd or sexually suggestive content, jewelry, or alcohol or tobacco products.
  • Your business offers no products and services generally deemed inappropriate among conservative Christians.
  • You view your work as a service to God and others, not just a means of profit.

Your Agreement With the Plain Places Community

By listing on Plain Places, I agree:

  • To operate consistently with the Founding Principles 
  • That my business fits the criteria listed under Who Qualifies for Plain Places
  • To always treat customers, employees, and business partners with respect
  • To offer quality goods and do excellent work, depending on my type of business
  • To present my offerings honestly and to keep my word
  • To strive to glorify Christ through my work
